Blockers are ineligible to catch a pass or run with the ball. Blockers also can't use their hands to grab the other team (the typical form is hands to your sides or behind your back and shuffling your legs to get in front of people). Blockers should swap frequently to ensure everyone has an opportunity to go out for a pass.
Each team should have at least one female on the field (unless there’s an injury or exhaustion has set in).
Games are 20 minutes long with a running clock.
The field runs from the 40-yard line to the end zone. We're going full width this year to prevent congestion. with the sidelines between the numbers (see image below).
New possessions always start at the 40-yard line.
There is one first down at the 20-yard line.
After scoring, you have the option of taking an automatic 7 points, or you can go for 2 (total of 8) from the 5-yard line.
Players are down by ONE hand touch.
The QB can't run without being rushed.
You can rush the QB after counting to "5 Veterans United". When counting, you MUST count out loud where the QB can hear.
If the QB doesn't throw the ball before the defense counts to "10 Veterans United," the play is dead and the offense loses the down. The defense must continue to count out loud for this to count.
QBs can pass, hand off or flip the football. If the QB passes or flips the ball behind themselves and the line of scrimmage, the QB is eligible to be a receiver and the person receiving the ball is eligible to run or pass.
Teams will receive an equal number of possessions. If you do not start the game with the ball, then you will have one final chance at the end, even if the clock runs out.
Penalties
Defensive penalties result in a replay of the down.
Offensive penalties result in a loss of down.
Turnovers
Fumbles are a dead ball at the spot of the player.
If the ball is intercepted, the defense can return the ball to the 40-yard line for a score. If touched before scoring the ball will reset to the 40-yard line.
If the ball is intercepted on an extra point play, the ball is dead.
Overtime
There will be no ties. Overtime will be sudden death, starting at the 20-yard line and each team will get a chance to score.
